James Brown has been selected by the Rocky Mountain Section PGA as the 2008 recipient of the President’s Plaque Award. Brown, an eighteen-year member of The PGA of America has been honored as such to recognize his extraordinary and exemplary contributions and achievements in the area of Player Development.
This award considers the Professional’s growth of the game leadership commitment at the Section and National levels, also the impact made at his/her own facility. This is the first occasion Jim has won this award but has been previously recognized as RMSPGA Public Merchandiser of the Year in 2004.
As a PGA member, Jim has worked tirelessly to grow the game of golf. At his facility, he has organized and operated a series of different programs for both juniors and adults, to grow the game both at his facility and the Snake River Chapter. These programs include National initiatives as well as local. At the Section level he hosted a Play Golf America Day in April 2008, and has been a member of the PGA’s Presidents Council on Growing the Game since 2004.
In addition to Play Golf America, Jim also utilized the following programs that are a part of the Play Golf America umbrella: Women’s Golf Month, Bring Your Kids to the Golf Range, Take Your Daughter to the Golf Course Week and Patriot Golf Day. In addition, Jim was a long-time member of the Board of Directors for Nampa Youth Golf and is still a host professional for the program.
Brown serves as the director of golf for both Ridgecrest Golf Club and Centennial Golf Course in Nampa, Idaho. In addition to his duties with the club, Jim has donated of his time to civic and charity organizations benefiting local, national and international interests; these include his local Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs. Jim is serving on the Rocky Mountain Section PGA Board of Directors and for the Snake River Chapter as Vice-President and has served on a number of Section Committees.
Jim will be formally recognized as the 2008 Rocky Mountain Section PGA President’s Plaque Award winner in May of 2009, during the Rocky Mountain Section PGA Annual Meeting.
